This Morning’s Decadence!

Hi Everyone,

Let me introduce to this morning’s decadence- Stuffed French Toast. While the thought is not that original, it hadn’t passed my mind up until I did some blog browsing last night. A blogger posted online a recipe for a Stuffed French Toast with bananas and I felt that I needed to challenge that with my own recipe. I could not wait longer than this morning to test it, so here it is my final product. Have fun!

Stuffed French Toast with Cream Cheese and Black Current Jam

This is simple and easy. Here is what you need:

– 1 egg per toast

– 2 slices of good whole wheat or whole grain bread per toast

– 1.5 table spoons of cream cheese per toast

– 1 table spoon of black current jam per toast

– 1 spoon of milk per toast

– 1.5 table spoons of butter per toast

– powdered sugar, dark chocolate, and blueberries  for decoration

– a cast iron pan

Now let’s get to the core of this. Spread the cream cheese on one slice of bread and the jam on the other. Put them together. Mix the egg with the milk and whisk it. Heat the pan on medium high and melt the butter(be careful your pan should not be too high so you can cook this properly without burning it!). Drench your bread slices with the egg and milk mixture and cook them in the pan. Once one side has developed a good golden crust turn your stuffed french toast on the other side and remove once it has  turned golden as well.

To decorate sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar, shared some dark chocolate and drop some blueberries on the side. Their tart taste offsets the sweetness of the toast well.
A fair warning- you may want to use a fork for this.  Enjoy !
